Dr. Jasmeet Bains is an award-winning family doctor and Assemblymember who has dedicated her career to serving others. She has won numerous awards, including:

In 2017, Governor Jerry Brown appointed Dr. Bains to serve as Chair of the California Healthcare Workforce Policy Commission with the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development Agency, serving in this role until her term ended in July 2021. As Chair, Dr. Bains helped ensure we have the healthcare workforce we need to deliver quality healthcare to all Californians.

 

Since 2019, Dr. Bains has served as a member of California Developmental Services Taskforce with the California Department of Developmental Services. She also serves as a Volunteer Physician with the California Disaster Medical Assistance Team, Central Valley Unit.

 

Dr. Bains currently serves as Board President of Kern Regional Center, as well as a member of the boards of California Women Lead, the Taft College Foundation, and as the Kern County Representative to the Environmental Justice Advisory Group for San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to ensure cleaner air for our Valley.

Dr. Bains was elected to the State Assembly in 2022 by an overwhelming margin. In her first term, she hit the ground running, winning $21 million to improve public safety in Kern County, including funding for a new police station in Wasco and new funding for McFarland’s police station. Dr. Bains secured $11 million to fight the fentanyl crisis and passed a new law establishing the Fentanyl Addiction and Overdose Prevention Task Force to develop ways to reduce fentanyl abuse and combat drug trafficking in our communities. She fought for and won $2.8 million for Kern County communities to rehabilitate parks, upgrade aging equipment and clean up graffiti so that families can be outside, play sports and enjoy picnics. She worked with the Kern County Community College District to bring home $1 million for an Economic Mobility Lab to prepare students for professions in business services, advanced manufacturing, and cyber security.
