McFarland Councilmember Ricardo Cano Endorses Dr. Jasmeet Bains for Assembly

Dr. Jasmeet Bains has been endorsed by McFarland City Councilmember Ricardo Cano, her campaign for State Assembly announced today.

Councilmember Ricardo Cano said: “I am proud to endorse Dr. Jasmeet Bains. Dr. Bains will be an exceptional Assemblymember, bringing home real victories and results for our Valley. From greater access to quality health care, to ensuring all of our families have a champion in Sacramento, Dr. Bains is the best choice for State Assembly and I’m proud to stand with her.”

Ricardo Cano was born, raised, and educated in McFarland, and lives and works there. He was first elected to the McFarland City Council in 2020.

Dr. Jasmeet Bains said: “What an honor to receive the support of McFarland Councilmember Ricardo Cano. McFarland has always had a special place in my heart, from running track meets in McFarland to visiting my uncle at his health clinic there.

There is a lot at stake in this election, and I will always fight to ensure our Valley receives its fair share so that everyone can get a good paying job, send their kids to the best public schools, and raise their families in safe, thriving neighborhoods. I look forward to continuing to partner with Councilmember Cano and others in delivering for our Valley.”

Since announcing her candidacy just two months ago, a wave of local education leaders, health care organizations, and community members have thrown their early support behind Dr. Bains, with Councilmember Cano being the latest in a groundswell of support for Dr. Bains’ candidacy for Assembly District 35. Last week, State Senator Dave Min threw his support behind Dr. Bains, joining Senators Melissa Hurtado and pediatrician and Senator Richard Pan, as well as the California Medical Association, California Academy of Family Physicians, and others in endorsing Dr. Bains’ candidacy.

The primary election will be held on June 7, 2022.
