State Senator Melissa Hurtado Endorses Dr. Jasmeet Bains for Assembly

Today, Dr. Jasmeet Bains’ campaign announced that State Senator Melissa Hurtado has endorsed Dr. Bains for State Assembly.

“With COVID still impacting our communities and small businesses, with so much at stake for the future of water and food security in our Valley, it is critical that we have leaders who will fight for our Valley,” said Senator Hurtado. “That’s why I am proud to endorse Dr. Jasmeet Bains for Assembly. Dr. Bains has spent her career delivering healthcare to some of our most underserved populations and has been a champion for our children. In the Assembly, I know that Dr. Bains will be a key partner in ensuring all Valley residents have access to quality healthcare, high wage jobs, and that we can safely send our kids back to school.”

The daughter of immigrant parents, Senator Hurtado grew up in the Valley and was the first in her family to graduate from college. She was the youngest member ever elected to the Sanger City Council. She was elected to the State Senate in 2018, defeating an incumbent Republican. In the State Senate, Senator Hurtado has delivered critically needed resources for healthcare, support for small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic and resources for water conveyance and repairs and clean, safe drinking water.

Dr. Jasmeet Bains said: “I am incredibly honored to receive the early support of State Senator Melissa Hurtado. I have always known Senator Hurtado to be a leader for our Valley and having her support means a great deal to me. I am looking forward to working with her to deliver even more for our Valley’s families, small businesses, and underserved communities.”

Dr. Jasmeet Bains is an award-winning family doctor providing primary healthcare to families throughout our Valley and a champion for children, fighting to improve health outcomes for vulnerable communities while increasing opportunities for all who call our Valley home. Now Dr. Bains is running for State Assembly to make an even bigger difference and address the challenges facing Valley families, from improving access to healthcare to building strong communities, expanding quality education and more.

The Primary election will be held on June 7, 2022.
