Dr. Jasmeet Bains Announces Asian American Pacific Islanders for Bains, Women for Bains, and Todos Con Bains Coalitions
Broad coalition of Valley leaders and community members unite behind Dr. Bains’ campaign to defeat David Valadao and fight for affordable health care, lower costs, and working families
DELANO, CA — Today, Dr. Jasmeet Bains announced the launch of three major grassroots coalition groups supporting her campaign for California’s 22nd Congressional District: AAPIs for Bains, Women for Bains, and Todos Con Bains – underscoring the broad, diverse coalition rallying behind her fight to defeat David Valadao and deliver for the Central Valley.
“Everything I’ve fought for – as a doctor, as a daughter of Sikh immigrants, and as a woman serving in public office – comes back to the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to build the life they envision for themselves and their families, and to be treated with dignity,” said Dr. Bains. “That’s why this campaign is bringing together women, Latino families, and AAPI communities across the Valley. We are united by shared values of dignity and community, and we are ready for leadership that understands our struggles, reflects our communities, and will fight every day to lower costs, protect health care, and create a better future for working people. I’m proud to work alongside a coalition that reflects the strength and diversity of the Central Valley.”

Dr. Bains has earned strong support from Latino leaders across the Central Valley because of her record fighting for affordable health care, defending working families, and delivering resources to underserved communities. As a physician, she cared for farmworkers and working-class families left behind by the health care system. In the Legislature, she fought to expand behavioral health and addiction treatment, protect immigrant communities from extremist attacks, and bring more doctors and medical resources to the Valley.
Dr. Bains is backed by more than 40 Latino elected officials and community leaders throughout the Valley who know she understands the challenges local families face because she’s spent her career serving them directly.
"As a former 9-1-1 dispatcher, I know what it means to serve on the front lines for our communities – and so does Dr. Jasmeet Bains. She’s cared for patients in under-resourced clinics, stood with working families in the State Assembly, and fought for safer, healthier neighborhoods in the Central Valley. Jasmeet understands that public health, public safety, and workers’ rights are all connected – and she’ll be a relentless advocate for all three in Congress. I’m proud to endorse her." – Rep. Norma Torres (CA-35)

As the first Sikh American and first South Asian woman elected to the California Legislature, Dr. Bains has broken barriers while remaining deeply rooted in service to the Central Valley community that raised her. The daughter of immigrants who fled persecution in search of opportunity, Dr. Bains understands firsthand the sacrifices immigrant families make to build a better future. That experience has shaped her work both as a physician and legislator. Her historic candidacy and record of results have earned support from leading AAPIs organizations including ASPIRE PAC and AAPI Victory Fund.
“As Chair Emerita of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus and a longtime leader with ASPIRE PAC, I know how vital it is to elect leaders who reflect our diverse communities and deliver for working families. Dr. Jasmeet Bains has broken barriers in medicine and public service, and I know she’ll bring that same dedication and determination to Congress. I’m honored to support her.” – Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28)

Dr. Bains has spent her career fighting for women’s health, economic security, and access to affordable care. As a doctor, Dr. Bains treated countless women struggling to access basic health care, prenatal care, and mental health services. In the Assembly she has continued that fight by expanding access to behavioral health care, supporting paid family leave, and advocating for policies that lower costs for working families.
As the first Sikh American and first South Asian woman elected to the California Legislature, Dr. Bains has also become a powerful example for young women and girls across the Valley – proving that leadership should look like the communities it serves. That’s why Dr. Bains has earned the support of leading organizations fighting to elect Democratic women, including EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood, and Elect Democratic Women.
"The path to the House majority runs through California, and more specifically it's going to run through the Central Valley. Jasmeet Bains is running in one of the most competitive districts in the country, and I can't think of anyone better to take on this tough fight. As a physician, she has been one of the strongest leaders on healthcare in our State Assembly. While Republicans like her opponent vote for the largest healthcare cuts in history, Jasmeet is going to come to Congress with first-hand experience of what the cost of care means to her community. I know that she'll be a valuable addition to our delegation and a strong voice for Central Valley families." – Rep. Zoe Lofgren (CA-18)
About Dr. Jasmeet Bains
Dr. Jasmeet Bains is a Central Valley family doctor and State Assemblymember who has spent her life fighting for working families. The daughter of immigrants and a Delano native, she served on the frontlines of California wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic before winning office in 2022. She continues to lead the fight for more affordable and accessible healthcare, clean water, and dignity for vulnerable Californians, all while still treating patients at her hometown clinic on weekends.
California’s 22nd Congressional District spans parts of Kern, Tulare, Kings, Fresno and Madera Counties — including many communities Dr. Bains already represents in the State Assembly.
