“I know the power of the word genocide and respect its moral weight because, in many ways, it shaped my own life. As the daughter of Sikh immigrants, my family fled to America to escape persecution, searching for safety and opportunity. I authored legislation officially declaring Sikh genocide - acknowledging the deep and lasting trauma experienced by my family and many others. I approach the word genocide with care, and I don’t believe it applies to Israel.
"I believe Israel is a critical ally and has the right to exist, defend itself, and live in peace. As a doctor, I also believe we have a moral responsibility to prevent human suffering and ensure aid reaches civilians in need – and that we can and must achieve lasting peace for both Israel and Palestine. Those values are not mutually exclusive. We need leaders in Congress who approach these issues with the seriousness and thoughtfulness they deserve – not soundbites or false choices – and that will continue to be my focus.”

“David Valadao and Washington Republicans had every opportunity to extend ACA tax credits before they expired and chose not to. As a physician, I see firsthand how essential these tax credits are to keeping health care affordable and watched Valadao do nothing as costs exploded. I am grateful today that working families will finally see some relief – it’s the least Congress can do. But let’s be clear: Valadao’s role is too little, too late. He can’t undo the damage he’s caused, the trust he’s broken, or the fact that he repeatedly sold the Valley out. We deserve a representative who understands the health care crisis and will go to Washington to address it.”

“As a doctor, I’ve seen firsthand how Medicaid has been a lifeline for working families, seniors, and children across the Central Valley. For sixty years, this program has helped people get the care they need — from prenatal checkups to cancer treatments to addiction recovery.
We should be building on that progress. Instead, Washington politicians are playing games with people’s lives. My opponent, David Valadao, voted to slash Medicaid funding and kick millions off their coverage. That’s not leadership — that’s cruelty.
In Congress, I’ll do what I’ve always done as a doctor and as a legislator: fight for the health and dignity of every person I serve. That means protecting and expanding Medicaid, lowering costs, and making sure no family has to choose between going to the doctor and paying the rent.”
