Health Care

Dr. Jasmeet Bains has seen firsthand how Washington decisions affect families’ health and make the difference between being able to afford a prescription or putting food on the table.

In Congress, she’ll fight to protect Medicare and Medicaid from devastating cuts, expand access to quality, affordable health care, and ensure seniors, working families, and rural Californians can count on the care they deserve. She’ll take on special interests and the drug companies to lower the cost of prescription medications, so no patient has to choose between paying for their medicine or their mortgage. In the Assembly, she led the fight to lower and cap insulin prices.

As a practicing family physician and Chief Medical Officer for the Central Valley, Dr. Bains knows our region suffers from some of the worst health outcomes and one of the most severe provider shortages in the nation. Just like when she led the effort to build a UC medical school in Kern County, Dr. Bains will work to expand rural health access and incentives for doctors, nurses, and other health professionals to serve in underserved areas — ensuring every community, no matter its ZIP code, has access to quality and affordable care.

From serving patients in her clinic, to standing up surge hospitals on the frontlines of COVID-19, and deploying to California’s wildfires to operate field hospitals and provide emergency care to evacuees and firefighters – there is nothing more important to Dr. Bains than fighting for her community’s care. She will bring that same resolve to Washington.
