Dr. Jasmeet Bains Statement on Valadao’s Attempt to Cover His Tracks on His Health Care Crisis
DELANO, CA — Today, Dr. Jasmeet Bains released the following statement in response to Rep. David Valadao’s eleventh-hour hour attempt to distract from his record of endangering Valley health care, undermining hospitals, and ripping away health care from 68,000 of his constituents:
“David Valadao and Washington Republicans had every opportunity to extend ACA tax credits before they expired and chose not to. As a physician, I see firsthand how essential these tax credits are to keeping health care affordable and watched Valadao do nothing as costs exploded. I am grateful today that working families will finally see some relief – it’s the least Congress can do. But let’s be clear: Valadao’s role is too little, too late. He can’t undo the damage he’s caused, the trust he’s broken, or the fact that he repeatedly sold the Valley out. We deserve a representative who understands the health care crisis and will go to Washington to address it.”
At the start of the year, Californians already saw their premiums rise by an average of 122%. In the San Joaquin Valley, more than 90% of Californians enrolled in Covered California rely on these tax credits to afford their health insurance
David Valadao’s record on health care:
After repeatedly promising not to gut Medicaid, he cast the deciding vote for the largest cut to Medicaid in history.
His vote stripped away coverage from over 68,000 in CA-22 and caused up to $128 billion in cuts to California health systems.
Valadao has voted at least 30 times to cripple, defund, or change the Affordable Care Act. In 2018, it cost him his seat.
